Fluss aufwärts. Paddeln ist mindestens so interessant wie Fluss abwärts. Und es ist natürlich ein super tolles Cardiotraining❤

I think I had a chance to watch the live stream of the competition and see you in it. Very cool 🏅 Two questions: (1) I assume they only allowed you to GoPro after the event. From what I remember them saying in the broadcast, no one got to ride it before competition, only walk the course. 2) when you filmed this, you didn't take all the gates, right? Keep on paddling! 🤙🏻
Glad you got to see the race! This was filmed in training before the event. You’re right, athletes aren’t able to paddle on the course once the gates are set. And yes during this run down, I didn’t take all the gates. As it’s a training session there are many gates out on the water to provide lots of variety and usually when we train we chose certain gates to take to practice
They switched starting in the Foix 2010 junior worlds when Fox switched and won women’s
Where did the course water come from? River Seine?

The course uses the Marne river, about 25km east of Paris Centre.
Looks milder than Penrith.
It is a little bit. Penrith has bigger drops and features. Paris is a touch smaller but is much more technical.

Hey now, if you need a real crazy course, wait for a team trials that has multiple people swimming out of the same feature while the river is flooding, crazy enough to rename "gate eight" to "gate ate". This looks tame comparatively, this looks like a fun section to race on!! Any time its an eddie line and not a eddie wall, its chill.
How long have racing C-1ers been switching sides with their paddle/using their left and right hands on the grip? Don't remember seeing this before. Thanks to anyone who knows/replies.
I’m used to seeing the cross strokes in whitewater as well. Switching hands I’m sure will give you more power but also seems very risky. But in this type of event I can understand the trade off.
Saw it become more of a thing when the ladies started racing C boats. Otherwise cross strokes became the norm back with Jon and Davey winning most everything back in the day, my guess is that most of the top men will still be using cross for the split seconds you save changing hands. Every fraction of a second you're not moving the boat down the course is time lost. But hey... can you believe everything some rando on YT types? (even when the rando was nationally ranked in the 90s) 😂 Bring back C2s!!
@@BrawndoDrinker I remember the first time I ever ran the Gauley, I was right behing Davey Hearn going through Sweets Falls.
Kent Ford one of our top C1 guys back in '79 was an occasional switcher. A really tough move on the Ocoee was the only time I saw him switch and he was catching crap (good natured) from the other guys about doing it. US was really strong in C1 back then, J Lugbill, Hearn, Robinson, R Lugbill & Ford

“Gates”. Green ones are run in a downstream direction, red gates are run in an upstream direction.

I’m using a mouth mount 😅 your head is already quite stable, and the GoPros have very good auto stabilisation built in, those two things together make a very smooth shot 👌
